Joan Evans - Secretary
Joan was born Cobar 1937 and grew up there, as the oldest girl in a family of 12. Aside from a short stint working in Sydney, Joan has been a strong member of the Cobar community for her whole life.
She is passionate about work that benefits her community, and all Indigenous Australians, and has extensive experience across the various facets of Indigenous Affairs. She is currently the Chair of the Cobar Community Working Party and a member of the Cobar Aboriginal Lands Council. She is also a representative of the Murdi Paaki Regional Assembly.
She brings a diverse working history to her role on the board, having worked for a number of local businesses, as well as her experience as the owner / operator of P&A Game Meats Pty Ltd.
She is currently actively engaged in a project to develop a bush tucker / native seed and grasses / horticulture enterprise at Cobar. Her interests include her family and 5 grandchildren, native plants, and researching and preserving Aboriginal culture.
