The Youth on Track Team took a group of kids from Dubbo and Sydney to embark on an unforgettable adventure to Port Stephens from the 17th to the 19th of April in 2024. As soon as the group arrived, they took them down to the beach, the kids were so excited that some of them swam in the clothes from Dubbo.
The group wasted no time in immersing themselves in the beauty of Port Stephens, starting with a leisurely lunch at the park and a shared BBQ that evening. The following day, they rose early for a sunrise fishing and swimming excursion, followed by a hearty breakfast together.
Venturing down to the harbor at Nelsons Bay, the kids were thrilled to witness dolphins swimming alongside their boat and even got to slide into the ocean and relax on the net next to the boat. After indulging in fish and chips, the group had a foot race with Dylan Lucas from the Newcastle Knights, adding a touch of friendly competition to the experience.
That night, a cultural event brought the group together, with traditional dancing that seemingly made it rain. The evening continued with pizza and a spirited game of hide and seek/spotlight, creating lasting memories and bonding experiences for all.
On their final day, the group bid farewell to their new friends from Sydney over breakfast before taking the youth from Dubbo to Salamander Shopping Centre and treating them to lunch at McDonald’s.
Overall, the youth from both Dubbo and Sydney cherished their time in Port Stephens, learning more about nature, culture, and each other along the way.
