Eight Community Development Programme (CDP) participants have worked hard over the last two months to complete their Certificate II in Salon Assistant.
Two REDI.E supervisors and eight participants began their journey in August, to show their friends and family a way forward. Not only did they spend their participation hours learning and practicing - they also put in extra time to glean as much as they could from Gloria, their trainer.
The ladies cut, washed and dried their way from one end of Bourke to the other and learnt so much; not only about hairdressing, but teamwork, friendship and work values.
Each of them completed the course as a team - and with some help from Reena’s ladies in Wilcannia and the rest of Bourke staff - they put on a wonderful lunch and fashion show, to celebrate.
Almost 60 people turned out to see children from the local school have their hair crafted from the professionals. They took to the cat walk with great style - and some sass!
