Open Day for Hair and Beauty Salon in Wilcannia a huge success

1 October, 2019

The community in Wilcannia has celebrated their Job Seekers with an open day for their Hair and Beauty Salon.

REDI.E’s CDP team engaged a contractor to deliver Hair and Beauty Workshop’s and Certificate II in Salon Assistant across five of our communities; Wilcannia, Menindee, Bourke, Brewarrina and Goodooga.

The first of the workshops were delivered in Bourke, where we had very positive feedback from all the participants involved.

The second round of workshops were for the Certificate II in Salon Assistant in Wilcannia and Menindee, where Job Seekers were involved in clearing a room and building the Salon from the materials provided, which included floorboards, mirrors, chairs and all equipment required to be a functioning Salon.

Then it was time for the main event! On Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th, the participants held and Open Day in Menindee and Wilcannia respectively. The whole community was invited to watch a fabulous runway show of the work the participants had completed - and a BBQ lunch was provided!
Everyone has a great time coming together to celebrate the achievements of the Job Seekers.

The next of the Workshops and Certificate II in Salon Assistant courses will begin in Brewarrina and Bourke this week, and continue onto Goodooga in two weeks.
