CDP client using her artistic skills to overcome addiction

1 October, 2019

The Community Development Program (CDP) is designed to help job seekers gain confidence with new skills and talents - and that is exactly what it’s doing for a REDI.E participant in Bourke.

28 year old Belita Wilson has been struggling with drug dependency for several years. She has tried a number of different treatments and had some bumps in the road.

Belita has overcome many challenges in her life. She is finally in a good place and making progress after finding a creative outlet to assist with her recovery.

Her art activity through the CDP program has become a stabilizing factor for her, proving to be an extremely positive influence. It is assisting her treatment by giving her a regular scheduled task each week - and allowing her to express herself.

Her favourite colours to work with are blues and greens, with splashes of pink and yellow and she takes inspiration from nature. By focusing on her art, Belita is channeling her energy and making progress.

It is extremely rewarding to see our client making such fantastic progress in the program.
