The Open Day for the REDI.E Gulargambone Youth Centre was a huge success, with many people from the community attending, including Elders and representatives from local services and councils.
The Centre opened in October and is supported by REDI,E, who provide a full-time youth worker. The office has been greatly supported by the community.
Youth Worker Crystal Bell says the service is a much needed addition to the community.
‘Children can come and enjoy activities in the afternoons after school. The kids assist to cook dinner and are driven home at the end of the day,’ she said.
‘Our aim is to engage with the youth of Gulargambone to assist in shaping their lives and create goals for the future, to prevent them from falling prey to crime.’
Everyone had a sensational time at the Open day, with over 45 kids, elders, police workers, parents, grandparents and local teachers attending.
Also present were representatives from the Local Land Council, Coonamble Shire Council, REDI.E Management and REDI.E HR.
Even boxing and rugby union legend Mark Pitts was there!
‘The tremendous effort put in from all REDI.E staff was phenomenal and captured the amazing engagement that has been happening in the Gulargambone community,’ said Crystal.
‘REDI.E are ensuring the youth of Gulargambone have every opportunity to grow into future leaders and set themselves realistic goals to achieve.’
‘By working with all the local services, we are collaborating a community and showing a united front that we care.’
REDI.E Youth Support Gulargambone will operate 5 days per week from our Warrie Street address.
