Cobar Workforce Development participants learn brainstorming and planning skills

20 December, 2017

Cobar Public School approached MPREC and asked if the Workforce Development particpants in Cobar would like to create a farewell gift idea for the Year Six Students to give to the school.

The project was a team effort and began with the participants brainstorming their ideas together, to decide what they wanted their designs to focus on. Then, as a planning exercise, they worked together to prioritise what needed to be done first and mapped out each step in the process to complete the project. The ladies then designed and made the cushion covers themselves, each one was patterned with an indigenous print. There were over 20 cushions donated to Cobar Public School.
Supervisor Prue Negus along with Dianne Davies, a WFD participant, handed over the cushions to the Year Six students. The Year Six students will give the cushions to each class as a farewell gift to the school.

The group has received very positive feedback, with many people commenting on how well the cushions were made and how lovely the prints were. Some people have even said they want one for themselves to take home!

MPREC offers two Foundation Skills courses:
