Murdi Paaki Regional Enterprise Corporation (MPREC) offices around Western NSW are celebrating after being named winner of the 2016 Regional Employment Program of the Year in Brisbane on Thursday.
The award, presented as part of the 2016 Employment Awards in conjunction with the Australian Long-Term Unemployment Conference, recognises individuals and organisations for their continuous work and commitment to addressing long-term unemployment.
“This award is recognition of our delivery of a number of programs supporting approximately 1100 clients through Western NSW, with the majority located in the Murdi Paaki region,” said acting CEO, Rene Wykes.
“We are proud of our innovative approaches to service delivery, particularly across our CDP (Community Development Programs), VTEC (Vocational Training Education Centre) and management of the NCAP (New Careers for Aboriginal People) program. The focus of each of these programs to engage and work closely with our local communities, to help transition long-term unemployed members of the community into successful and sustainable employment.”
“One way we do this is by creating labour market opportunities that would not have otherwise existed, where jobseekers work to service their community, while building skills and experiencing stable employment.”
“We work to continuously improve the social fabric and wellbeing of Western NSW, so we are all very proud to have been recognised in this field. I congratulate the whole team and thank our communities for their partnership."
