Those attending had the rare opportunity to tour the radio station and see firsthand exactly what goes into providing community radio services to Wilcannia and surrounding areas.
Radio Team Leader, Brendon Adams said how happy he was to see everyone come to the new opening, and praised the radio team, local MPREC staff, and Work for the Dole participants who showed real commitment to making the day a success.
The new studio was opened by MPREC CEO, Paul Newman, with the ribbon cut by local Elder Uncle Cyril Hunter. MPREC also provided a BBQ lunch to all attendees, with all food prepared and cooked by the local Women’s and Men’s groups, made up of Work for the Dole participants.

Brendon also would like to thank Elsie from Maari Ma, Women Safe House, the Men’s Group and the Central Darling Shire Council for contributing to the successful event.
Next up for the team is Wilcannia River Radio’s
latest venture, publishing a monthly newsletter for the community to continue to show off the positive and fun stories from the area.
