One of MPREC’s Work For The Dole participants has obtained his drivers licence for the first time in 20 years, giving him a new independence.
Darryl Ferguson is a participant in the Community Development Programme (CDP) in Brewarrina. This team has done some fantastic things this month, including graduating from a Mental Health First Aid Training Workshop
The CDP helps job seekers to secure and maintain employment, by delivering training opportunities, upskilling language literacy and numeracy programs, and providing work for the dole activities.
Mr Ferguson says getting his license has made a big difference for him. “I feel that my confidence has gone up, along with a sense of ownership and pride.” He says he couldn’t have done it without the MPREC team. “I just want to say a big thank you to Irene Brown and the Brewarrina MPREC team. They have been so helpful and I really appreciate all their efforts.”
